Today is the day we all have been waiting for.

The long practices, hard workouts, tournaments, time and energy seems like nothing now as the boys will now be rewarded. We leave tonight for Stirling Scotland to showcase our skills and compete at the Loch Lomond Youth Soccer Festival. We have many tours included which may just be the highlights of the trip. Castle tours, Celtic stadium tour and a pro soccer match. Again all this would not be possible if it were not for the countless hours of fundraising, planning and practicing. So again thank you to all the businesses, coaches, and most importantly the parents and kids.

Bronze at the Coca Cola Classic

The 25th annual Coca-Cola Classic was a huge success for the Renegades International Soccer Team. The team was missing a top defender and had some injury issues, but it didn't stop them from playing a fabulous tournament with players stepping up and playing in unfamiliar roles. The team placed 1st in their pool and then lost 2-0 to Chilliwack in the semi final. The game was dominated by our boys with a possession rate of 90%-10% it was a amazing game.

Players of the Tournament.

Game 1 Renegades International Vs. Calgary PSA Players of the game Brett Dennie, Dillon Lehman & Jonathon Ferreira for their stalwart defense in 5-0 victory- Honorable Mention Nicu Ruicea scores 3.

Game 2 Renegades International Vs. Chilliwack Attack, Player of the game Kristian Mancuso- scoring winning goal from a corner kick- Honorable mention- Cale Jacobs for his lethal, penetrating corners and free kicks that put every opponent under pressure. 1-0 victory.

Game 3 Renegades International Vs. Chilliwack Attack, Player of the game Captain Colton Alexander for giving and receiving vicious tackles in bloody and hard fought center-mid battle. 2-0 loss Honorable Mention Mark Molchanko for his huge efforts in a new position at striker due to the International being down 3 players with injuries.

Game 4 Renegades International Vs. Airdrie Aztec, Player of the game Dominik Kropacek who set up great goals with his precision R and L foot crosses into the danger areas for the opponents. Honorable Mention Rushton Davis-Hall at the Striker position keeping constant pressure on the opponent working with his partner Nicu Ruicea. Keeper Brody Slagman earns the moment(s) of the match for making 2 brilliant saves late in the game. 4-1 victory

Out of the 10 goals the team scored on the weekend; 5 of them came direct from well practiced set plays. 3 corners and 2 indirect free kicks- terrific execution boys!

The team only surrendered 3 goals for the tournament and dominated all of the games, especially the game they fell short on which ironically was their best game of the tournament even though it did not show up on the score board...such is soccer.

The International are looking forward to Shane Gasser, Josh Cruickshank and Nathan Narong making speedy recoveries from their injuries. Their team mate Tom is already in Europe and they look forward to seeing him at the International Loch Lomond Soccer Festival in Scotland which they leave for on Aug 3.

Player of the Tournament Nicu Ruicea- Scored at will for the entire tournament.

FUNDRAISING UPDATE

Saturday Feb. 14th-Raffle Table for the day at the Family Day Tournament.

Red Deer City Soccer will allow our team to sell items at a raffle table on the Saturday of the tournament. We need to decide what to raffle off and organize the schedule of who will sit at the table to sell tickets. Margo will ensure the cashbox is ready to go with a float.

Parent(s) volunteer opportunity:
Contact the other teams running a raffle on that weekend to ensure we do not duplicate prize (RDCSA has the team contact info)
Choose the items to raffle and make up the basket(s) – team can pay for this cost
Create a raffle box to put tickets into
Create raffle tickets and signage
Create schedule of who will work during the day
Ensure raffle item is distributed and funds are returned to Margo

Feb 1-25 – Excel Ticket Raffle

During our November meeting we discussed selling raffle tickets for a draw set up by our tour company, Excel. The prize is a trip for 2 to Manchester to watch a Manchester United Football game. Prize includes flights, 2 nights hotel and entry to the game. Tickets are $10.00 each. Excel pays for the cost of the prize and our team only pays for the printing of the tickets.
This will be an individual fundraiser. The value of every ticket sold will go towards each individuals expenses. For example: if Josh sells 10 tickets, $100.00 will be put towards his trip. Participation in this raffle is optional.

Parent volunteer opportunity:
· Track and distribute tickets to parents and players
· Collect ticket stubs and money by Feb 25th
· Ensure all ticket stubs have initials of the player who sold them
· Have tickets available for sale at the Family Day tournament
